New park on Adyar river bank in Kotturpuram

Chennai: The Corporation will develop a new park on a stretch of the Adyar river bank in Kotturpuram.Mayor M. Subramanian, who inspected the site on Monday, said the park would be developed at the cost of Rs.2 crore on a two-acre plot. It would have walkways, fountains, children’s play equipment, lawns and seats.

The Corporation would also renovate a total of 1.12 lakh lamp-posts across the city at the cost of Rs.87.80 lakh in three months, a release said.

The Corporation’s Electrical Department maintains around 1.25 lakh streetlights in the city. Around 12,000 lamp-posts are to be installed at the cost of Rs.19.9 crore.

To maintain streetlights, the civic body has 24 hydraulic ladder mounted vehicles.
