One held for murder of child

CHENNAI: Police on Tuesday arrested a 27-year-old man on charges of rape, murder and giving false information.
Following a complaint from Tamilselvan of Vanniar Nagar 2nd Street in Korukkupet that his three-year-old daughter Jayabarathi was missing, police registered a case. After a few days, a body was found in an abandoned ditch near his house. After the complainant identified the deceased, the body was sent for post-mortem.
Discreet inquiries revealed that the baby was allegedly molested by a man in the local area who was identified as Rajendran, a painter, residing on Reddy Street, Korattur.
Based on his confessions, the police registered a case of murder, rape and produced him before a city court.
