Man arrested for land grabbing

CHENNAI: The Central Crime Branch police have arrested S. Ayyanar, a resident of Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Pudur, for impersonating M. Amavasai and preparing fake documents and a power-of-attorney for 1.34 acres of land belonging to the latter. The accused had also registered the document at the Ambattur sub-registrar’s office. The arrest followed complaint by M. Amavasai of Kakkanji Nagar in Ambattur, who owned the said plot of land in Oragadam. The accused was produced before Poonamallee magistrate and remanded to custody, said a press release.
