THRISSUR: P. Konguvel was sitting pretty after the penultimate round of the Thrisur international all-India FIDE-rated chess tournament here on Tuesday. The Tamil Nadu IM drew his ninth round encounter against R. Premnath and was in the lead with eight points from nine rounds. The final round will be played on Wednesday. The results: Ninth round: P. Konguvel (8 pts) drew with R. Premnath (7); R.R. Laxman (7.5) drew with Preetham Sharma (7.5); M.G. Gahan (7.5) bt Alex Thomas (6.5); G.A. Stanny (7.5) bt U.C. Mohanan (6.5); M.A. Joy Lazar (7) drew with Tejas Ravichandran (7); Vinoth Kumar (7) bt Ganesh Babu (6), Rupankar Nath (6) lost to Varughese Koshy (7).
