Dempo takes on Al Ansar

New Delhi: Dempo would look to continue the good work when it takes on Lebanese powerhouse Al Ansar in its penultimate AFC Cup group match in Beirut on Wednesday.

Dempo had revived its fortunes by beating Bahrain league champion Al Muharraq 2-1 in its last outing away from home after being thrashed 0-4 by the same opponent in Margao. Muharraq and Ansar are on seven points each while Dempo is a point behind.

Mauricio Afonso’s boys know the importance of the Group ‘A’ game as a win would put them in an advantageous position to qualify for the knock-out stage with the last game to be played at home against bottom-placed Sur Club of Oman on May 14.

Dempo will be without its injured defender Mahesh Gawli and Veleriano Rebello. — PTI
