Rights panel directive

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Human Rights Commission has directed the Public Works Department to not allow arches or flex boards to be installed along public roads. The order issued by SHRC Chairman N. Dinakar here on Monday also directed the PWD to get the ones already in place removed. He also asked the Collectors to issue orders banning the erection of arches and flex boards. The SHRC order came on a suo motu case on the basis of media reports that arches were being erected violating the District Collectors’ orders. — Special Correspondent
