Over 700 attend ‘Mega job and career mela’

JOB-SEEKERS: Candidates at the career mela in Chennai on Sunday.

CHENNAI: Over 700 persons who attended the ‘Mega job and career mela’ here on Sunday went back home with jobs. Organised by the Don Bosco Vazhikaatti and Tamil Mayyam, the fair was aimed at giving students and job-seekers from socially and economically weaker sections information on various job opportunities.

The fair provided openings for aspiring computer operators, data entry operators, DTP operators, electricians, fitters, welders and machine operators.

Employers representing sectors such as IT-enabled services, retail, marketing and healthcare were present.

Organisers said such fairs were held once in three months and so far, three such fairs had been organised in Chennai.

Most of those recruited on Sunday were aged between 18 to 30 years.

Recruiters who were present at the fair included Wipro technologies, HCL Technologies, Lifestyle and the Nilgiris.
