Candidate arrested for code violation

Chitradurga: In the first case of violation of the model code of conduct here, the police on Friday arrested an independent candidate from Hosadurga taluk, Gulihatti Shekhar, and three others for distributing colour television sets to voters.

Following a report on April 18, the police seized four TV sets from houses in Nagatihalli in Hosadurga taluk. Investigation showed that the TVs were given by Mr. Shekhar. Superintendent of police Labhu Ram said the four were arrested and released on bail. — Staff Correspondent
