VIJAYAWADA: Tirupati will host the senior State badminton championship for men and women from August 21 to 24, while Khammam will play host to the junior State meet (under-19 boys and girls) from August 1 to 3, the Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association (APBA) Secretary, K.Ch. Punnaiah Choudary, said here on Friday. He added that the sub-junior championships (u-16 and 13) would be staged at Hyderabad from September 4 to 7 and Srikakulam from September 18 to 21 respectively. “The State veterans championship for men and women will be held at Manchirial (Adilabad) from December 4 to 7,” he said. Choudary asked the district associations to conduct summer coaching camps with the co-operation of their respective District Sports Authorities in May to create enthusiasm among young boys and girls. “The associations can use the services of the senior players in these camps,” he said. Choudary also asked the district associations to conduct the district championships before the end of the July. — Sports Reporter
