Saminathan scalps five

THANJAVUR: Saminathan scalped five wickets as Indian City Gold CC defeated Ashok CC by eight wickets in a Canara Bank-Thanjavur DCA first division league cricket match here.

The scores: First division: Challengers CC 218 in 39.4 overs (Suresh 76, D. Rajan 51, Kandasamy five for 74) lost to Thanjavur Medical College 219 for six in 36.5 overs (Udaya Kumar 62 n.o.).

TUK Arts College 120 in 30.4 overs (Appu four for 34) lost to Ganesh 121 for seven in 25.2 overs (Bala 40).

Tuff XI 86 in 26.1 overs lost to Kings College 87 for two in 15 overs.

Ashok 70 in 15 overs (Saminathan five for 22) lost to Indian City Gold 72 for two in 10 overs.

RVM 155 in 27.4 overs (R. Balaji 57, Devendran four for 41, Kandasamy four for 45) bt Thanjavur Medical College 139 in 28.5 overs (R.R. Kalidas Vandayar five for 45).

Kathiravan advances

At Tiruchi, C. Kathiravan of V CC defeated clubmate K. Mahesh 23-7, 7-25, 24-12 to enter the quarterfinals in the non-medallists category at the 50th Tiruchi district carrom championship here on Friday.
