India levels with Thailand

NEW DELHI: Ratnika Batra defeated Veena Doungkean 7-5, 6-3 to keep the Indian hopes alive in the classification match against Thailand in the Asia-Oceania World junior girls tennis championship at Shenzhen, China, on Friday.

Natasha Palha had earlier lost the first singles 3-6, 3-6 to Budasain Raktaengam. The match will resume with the doubles on Saturday.

The winner of the match will meet the winner of another unfinished match between Indonesia and New Zealand, for the fifth place.
