Marriage procession attacked

Morena (Madhya Pradesh): The marriage procession of a Scheduled Caste groom was not allowed to pass through an upper caste locality here forcing it to turn its way, police said.

The residents objected to the groom sitting on a horseback and refused to let the procession pass through their locality on Wednesday, police said.

Persons belonging to the upper castes allegedly began beating the marriage party when they refused to budge forcing them to run away, said police. The injured father of the bride lodged a complaint against six persons and a case was registered in this regard. — PTI
