Narrow win for Nationals

BANGALORE: Nationals, Mysore snatched a thrilling 49-47 win over Pinakini (Gouribidannur) in the boys section of the State junior (under-18) basketball championship at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium here on Wednesday.

An 8-3 first quarter advantage for the Mysore side was negated with some inspired showing by Ravichandra for Pinakini to change sides 20-21.

Sufiya Khan and Shreyas kept Nationals within striking distance and the scoreline at the end of the third quarter was 33-34.

The last ten minutes not only saw the teams miss some simple shots but also bring off a few good ones. However, Nationals managed to outscore its rival to clinch a thrilling win.

In another close finish, Vimanapura downed DRDO 34-28 after a 17-13 halftime lead.
