Bangalore: A large consignment of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), smuggled into the State, in view of the Assembly elections, has been seized by the Excise Enforcement police at Karwar on Tuesday. The consignment worth Rs. 2.91 lakh was being smuggled into Karnataka from Goa via Karwar. The police arrested Subramanyam in this connection and the police have seized the goods vehicle that was being used to smuggle the consignment. According to a press release here on Tuesday, the IMFL (rum and brandy) bottles were concealed in oil tins which were packed in sandalwood powder used to manufacture agarbattis. A thorough search of the vehicle revealed 76 boxes containing 1,824 750ml bottles of IMFL. — Staff Reporter
