Bangalore: Legislative Assembly Speaker Krishna has been selected as the Janata Dal (Secular) candidate for the K.R. Pet seat yet again. He won the seat with a handsome margin in the 2004 elections and was subsequently elected Speaker. MeetingA high-level meeting of the JD(S) under the leadership of party president H.D. Deve Gowda selected nine more candidates for various constituencies going to polls in the first phase of the Assembly elections on May 10. The nine candidates selected are C. Narayanaswamy (Byatarayanapura), Ashfaq Ahmed (Shivajinagar), Shankarappa (Malleswaram), Vishwanath (Yeshwantpur), C. Doddanayak (H.D. Kote), K. Mahadev (Periyapatna), Basave Gowda (Chamundeshwari), Prathap (Chamaraja) and H.S. Prakash (Hassan). Joins partyThe former BJP MLA U.B. Banakar on Tuesday joined the Janata Dal (S) along with the former Minister Varade Gowda. Mr. Deve Gowda and the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy welcomed them into the party at a function arranged at the JD(S) headquarters.
