Yet another gold burglary in London

London: An elderly Indian-origin man in Southall has become a victim of burglars here. He is the latest among the members of the Asian community who have been targeted recently as they keep considerable gold in their homes.

The 70-year-old victim allowed a young woman into his house last week after she asked whether she could borrow a pen and some paper to leave a note for a neighbour. A boy accompanying her soon entered the house and headed to the bedroom. It was only after the pair left the elderly man realised that his deceased wife’s jewellery box had been broken open and 23 pieces were missing. — PTI
