Police station functioning in school

AMID protests: The school where the station is located.

TAMBARAM: The St. Thomas Mount All-Women Police Station has been functioning at a classroom of the Alandur Municipal Primary School on M.K.N. Road for the past few months. Residents of the locality and parents of the students are objecting to this, saying it is a great inconvenience to both students and teachers.

Parents say that the police station started functioning from the school over three months ago. The commotion caused by relatives of victims and offenders has been proving a nuisance to students.

Police and Alandur municipal authorities, however, said it is only a temporary arrangement and that the station would be shifted. Residents of M.K.N. Road, who preferred not to be named, said they were not against a police station in their locality, but were concerned that the movement of police personnel and visitors would affect the congenial atmosphere on the school premises.
