MOHALI: Not known to be a big hitter, Michael Hussey believes in keeping the scoreboard ticking. But on Saturday, Hussey played as though he was making up for the below-par show of his teammate Matthew Hayden. “I think the short, straight boundaries helped me today. I enjoyed myself in the middle and had great fun. It just happened to be my day,” he said. “More than my knock, it was important that we played as unit. Suresh Raina and Badrinath helped me bat better. They took the pressure away. That made my job a lot easier.” Hayden was happy with the score Chennai put up and said, “we have a strong batting line-up but our bowling needs to get better on such pitches.” Punjab skipper Yuvraj Singh conceded that his team was ‘outmatched and out-batted’ by Hussey. “In the last three overs we gave away too many runs. Before we started our chase, I told the boys to go out there and enjoy. I was aware that 241 was too high a target. But I don’t expect totals to be get any bigger in the competition. — Special Correspondent
