Congress downplays Mayawati’s threat
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: The Congress on Saturday refused to be provoked by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati’s outburst over Rahul Gandhi’s dharna in Jhansi, stating it was only natural for her to be upset at his criticism of her administration.
‘UPA will survive’
In an informal interaction with the media after Ms. Mayawati threatened to withdraw her party’s support to the UPA government, Congress media in-charge Veerappa Moily sought to play down the ultimatum.
Also, Congress leaders pointed out that the Bahujan Samaj Party was not in a position to destabilise the UPA arrangement as it had offered support on its own.
