KANNUR: The boys from Ferroviaria, Sao Paulo, finally found their feet on Saturday night. After disappointing in both their games, in which they scored just one goal, the Brazilians played enterprising football to outplay Mohammedan AC, Kolkata, 4-0 in the second E.K. Nayanar Memorial Gold Cup tournament at the Municipal Jawahar Stadium. The win also took them to the top of Group ‘A’, well clear of Sporting Clube de Goa in goal difference; the teams, both unbeaten, finished with seven points apiece. Skipper Washington Luis and Robinson Michel, who was named Man-of- the-Match, were the scorers, both netting two goals each. The first strike came in the 11th minute, when Luis made good use of an excellent pass by Jucimar Lima. Luis, from close in, gave little chance for the Mohammedan custodian Ananda Mondal. Luis struck again in the 39th minute. The goal came off a counter-attack, following an excellent solo effort by the hard-working Mohammedan striker, Olowonilafe Seheed, who made a great run down the left before fumbling at the finish line. The counter-attack on the right was orchestrated by Danilo Caccelli and Luis, who gave the finishing touch. In the 53rd minute, Michel, after being fed by Frederico Oliviera, made it 3-0 with a powerful long ranger. He completed the rout in the 74th minute off a Dennis Augusto pass down the left.
