HPCL posts two wins in two days

VISAKHAPATNAM: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited scored two wins in the matches it played during the last two days. D.V. Appa Rao claimed six wickets in the team’s 79-run win over LG Polymers.

HPCL earlier beat Naval Armament Depot by 57 runs.

The scores:

HPCL 151 for nine in 30 overs (D.V. Appa Rao six for 56) bt L.G. Polymers 72 in 16.3 overs.

HPCL 127 in 29.1 overs bt N.A.D. 70 in 20.1 overs (Dheeraj four for 24).

Handball selection trials

Trials to select the district mini (under-12) and sub-junior (under-15) boys’ and girls’ handball teams will be held at the GVMC Stadium here from 3 p.m. on April 22.

The selected teams will participate in the State championships to be held at Vendurthy in Kurnool district from April 27 to 29. Interested have to report to coach V. Udayshankar along with two passport size photos. The DHA will bear the cost of kit and other expenses of the selected teams.

Hockey trials

The Vizag Women’s Hockey Association will conduct trials at the Port High School (Krishna) grounds, Salagrampuram, here on April 21 from 3 p.m., to select the district teams for the sixth sub-junior inter-district girls’ hockey championship.

Girls, born on or after January 1, 1993, are eligible to appear for trials.

Interested have to report to hockey coach June Gallyot along with date of birth certificate, informed secretary L.R. Joseph Dass.

The inter-district meet will be held at Guntur from April 26 to 29.
