Madras Motor Sports Club felicitates Indian drivers

CHENNAI: The Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC), on Friday, felicitated the Indian riders and drivers who will be racing abroad this year.

Several riders including Emmanuel Jebaraj, Emmanuel Clarke, K. Rajini, Harry Sylvester, P. Karthik and Vinoth Kannan are participating in various categories in the Malaysian Super Series.

Driver Ashwin Sundar, 18, will race in the German Formula Volkswagen ADAC championship, while Aditya Patel, 19, is looking forward to the next round of the Formula BMW Pacific series after finishing third on debut in Malaysia.

The MMSC also congratulated riders Dilip Roggers and Rohit Giri and drivers Karun Chandhok and Armaan Ebrahim, who couldn’t make the function.

Aravind shines

Aravind’s unbeaten 82 was the highlight of Kedar CA’s big win over TE-IPL ‘B’ in the TVH Cup under-13 league match held here.

The scores: JS Rao CA 94 in 29.5 overs (R. Rathish 37, S. Sidharth three for 16) lost to Future Sports CA 98 for no loss in 12.2 overs (G. Karthik 49 n.o., Aswath 28 n.o.); Kedar CA 197 for one in 30 overs (Aravind 82 n.o., Soorya 50, Ramoj 41 n.o.) bt TE-IPL ‘B’ 42 in 21.1 overs (Vignesh three for three, Rishi Vaidya three for four); Kedar 110 for nine in 30 overs (Samees 26, Nishouth four for 14) lost to CSSF 113 for seven in 30 overs (Vignesh three for 21).

IOB-Lions Club Trophy u-16 Twenty20 tournament: Abdul Jabbar CA 100 for eight in 20 overs (Arun 36, Geoff Peterson three for 13, Abhishek Mehra three for nine, Rohit Katti two for nine) lost to TE-IPL CA 104 for two in 12.1 overs (Kunal Madan 76 n.o.); N. Kanniah CA 64 for nine in 20 overs (V. Chandramouli 27, S. Selva three for four, Jitender two for 11) lost to St. Bede’s Sports Foundation 67 for no loss in 5.3 overs (Ganga Sridhar Raj 38 n.o., B. Mylapore Club clinches title

Mylapore Club defeated Gandhinagar Club to claim the Sanmar-TNTA ‘C’ Zone city-club tennis title.

The results:

Mylapore bt Gandhinagar 2-1 (Karthik & Ajith lost to V.R. Ramanathan & Preethi Rao 3-6, 2-6; Vijay & Ramji bt Gowtham & Anandh 6-4, 6-2; Lakshman & Lakshman bt Shivakumar & Srinivasan 7-6, 6-3).

IPL tickets sale from today

The daily tickets for the DLF-IPL matches featuring Chennai Super Kings taking on Mumbai Indians (April 23) and Kolkata Knight Riders (April 26) will go on sale from Saturday (April 19).

The tickets can be purchased from the TNCA counters at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and between 2 and 6 p.m.

Tickets are also available at all outlets of Landmark — Nungambakkam, Spencer Plaza and City Centre.

Summer camps

United Cricket Academy will conduct a camp for boys and girls between the ages of six and 16 at the Aacini School ground from April 20 to May 20.

The Chennai District Baseball Association will conduct free coaching camp at YMCA (Nandanam) in early May for boys’ above-12 years.
