KOLKATA: The Indian men’s recurve team, comprising Rahul Banerjee, Jayanta Talukdar and Mangal Singh Champia, went down to Italy by a point in the semifinals of the second Meteksan World Cup at Porec (Croatia) on Friday. The Indians lost 225-226. The second-seeded Indians won against Germany at 224-212 in the first round and defeated Ukraine at 226-219 in the quarterfinals. The semifinal loss pitted India against France in the bronze medal play-off match on Saturday. DisappointmentThe threesome of Dola Banerjee, Chekrovolu Swuro and L. Bombayla Devi, who earned India Olympic quota places, lost to Japan in the first round of the recurve team event at 206-208 to the disappointment of the Indian camp. The compound women, however, did better by beating Spain in the first round at 214-205 but lost Great Britain 210-222.
