Karachi: The Indian Cricket League (ICL) organisers run the risk of inviting legal troubles after fielding a ‘Pakistan’ XI, which has irked the cricket board here. According to a PCB official, the ICL organisers have upset the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) by fielding a Pakistan XI which has players wearing national colours in the ongoing World Series. “We basically believe that there is only one Pakistan cricket team that is selected by us as we are the legally authorised body given clearance by our government to do this job. No other organiser can claim to a ‘Pakistan’ team,” the official said. Meanwhile, PCB Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi said that the board had asked its lawyers to prepare a brief on the issue soon so that further action could be taken on it. “We are looking at the legal side of this issue. We believe what is being done is not right,” he said. PCB sources said if the need arose, the Board would also talk to the International Cricket Council about the issue. — PTI
