‘Make study of Sanskrit compulsory’

HYDERABAD: Sanskrit should be given the status of a compulsory language to be studied in schools. Its study in colleges and universities also needs to be further encouraged and facilitated, Governor N.D. Tiwari, observed here on Saturday.

Speaking after releasing the reprint edition of ‘Yajnavalkya Smriti’ written by Justice Rama Jois, he praised Sanskrit as a ‘reservoir of profound knowledge and perspective wisdom, covering a wide range of issues and themes’. Mr. Tiwari stated that ‘Yajnavalkya Smriti’ had a special status in the inventory of smritis.
