Railmen for higher wages

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The governing council of the Federation of Railway Officers’ Associations has expressed deep anguish over “biased and skewed” recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission and demanded higher wages for railway officers. The Federation, which represents nine Group A Railway Central Services, has demanded placement of all general managers of the Indian Railways in the apex grade, and also to pay Railway Board Chairman at par with the Cabinet Secretary and the Chiefs of Staff of the defence services. According to the Federation’s acting General Secretary G. N. Asthana, the Railway Board Chairman has been given a raw deal in the Pay Commission’s recommendations. Similarly the general managers should also be placed in upper pay scales.
