NEW DELHI: Regular interaction between the Delhi Government and the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee as a means of ironing out differences and firming up strategies for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections were suggested at the Coordination Committee meeting of the Delhi Congress called by the party general secretary in charge of Delhi affairs, Ashok Gehlot, here on Thursday. According to sources, the meeting that was also attended by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, her Cabinet colleagues A.K. Walia and Raj Kumar Chauhan, DPCC president J.P. Agarwal, Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken and Minto Road MLA Tajdar Babar was held in a cordial atmosphere. Unlike similar meetings in the past when Ram Babu Sharma was DPCC president, at this meeting differences within the party were not brought to the fore. Rather the emphasis was on narrating the various steps initiated for the welfare of the people and how they should be informed about those schemes and policies. “The issue of providing more rations to the poor through the APL card scheme, regularisation of unauthorised colonies, making permanent a large number of temporary employees and filling up of posts lying vacant were some of the main items on the agenda during the meeting,” said a source. Ms. Dikshit spoke about various initiatives taken by the Delhi Government for the benefit of the poor and how the party should now take them out to the people.
