Do not worry about pay panel report: Patil

New Delhi: The government on Wednesday asked Central paramilitary forces “not to worry” about the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission report and also keep away from the “misinformation” campaign being spread about it.

This was stated by Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil during his address at the CRPF personnel’s “Valour Day” function, which mainly focused on grievances of the security forces.

“You should not worry. I also request you not be a victim of misinformation (regarding the Pay Commission recommendations),” Mr. Patil said.

He acknowledged that the internal security forces had a challenging and “tactical” job to defeat the “enemy within.” The government would help the forces by supplementing them with “men, facilities and training.”

Equating the police and security forces — as “vital” as “oxygen” (for human existence) — the Minister said, “The police is like oxygen, when it exists, no one bothers about it but when it ceases, its importance is known.”

Committee formed

With the armed forces and IPS officers voicing their unhappiness over the Pay Commission recommendations, the government set up a high-level committee on Tuesday to look into their grievances.

The three-member committee comprises Finance Secretary D. Subbarao, Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta and Defence Secretary Vijay Singh. — PTI
