Woman shot dead during robbery

Special Correspondent

LUCKNOW: A former employee of a private airline company, Sheeba G. Thomas, was shot dead by four unidentified persons around midnight on Tuesday in Sector 20 of Noida. The police suspect it to be a case of highway robbery.

Ms. Thomas had quit the airline job a week back and floated a call centre in Sector 65 of Noida jointly with her friend.

No arrests have been made.

Ms. Thomas is a resident of C-143, Sector 149 in Noida. Her father, Thomas G. Varghese, is based in Wardha, Maharashtra.

Gautam Buddha Nagar SSP A. Satish Ganesh told The Hindu that many crucial leads had been gathered by the police. He said there had been an altercation between Ms. Thomas and the four assailants who were on two-wheelers. They stopped her car and tried to snatch her valuables. Ms. Thomas resisted and kicked one of the assailants, following which he pulled out a revolver and shot at her.
