Rawat strikes winner

NEW DELHI: Yajuvendra Rawat struck the match-winner as Central Secretariat defeated Airports Authority of India 1-0 in a group ‘B’ match of the ‘A’ division DSA institutional football league at the Ambedkar Stadium here on Tuesday.

It was the fourth victory in as many matches for Central Secretariat that ensured it a place for the super-league along with Airports Authority of India.

In group ‘B’, Indian Airlines qualified for the super-league beating Indraprastha Generation Power Company Limited 3-0, thanks to goals by Negi, Jeff and Rajiv. IGPCL conceded the match as it was reduced to six players following injuries.

In another match, Railway Board held Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to a 2-2 draw. Ankit and Gagan scored for Railway Board while N. K. Sharma and Rakesh found the target for DDA.

Anil Chaudhary stars

A three-wicket haul by Anil Chaudhary helped Opto Group to a 33-run victory over West Delhi Academy in the 18th all-India Om Nath Sood Memorial cricket tournament at the Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce ground here on Tuesday.

The scores: Opto Group 201 for nine in 40 overs bt West Delhi Academy 168 in 37.2 overs (Pradeep Malik 49).

Basoya scalps five

A lethal spell by Nitin Basoya (five for 28) and a good knock by Rameez Niyamat (61) helped Quetta DAV Academy, Nizamuddin, beat Pelican Club by 68 runs and enter the pre-quarterfinals of the 15th Shera Pandit Memorial SP Trophy cricket tournament held here.

The scores: Quetta DAV 210 in 39.6 overs (Rameez Niyamat 61, Jasbir Singh four for 38) bt Pelican 142 in 35.4 overs (Nitin Basoya five for 28).

Gupta scores century

A fine century by Amit Gupta (126), a good knock by Pankaj Joshi (80 not out) and a fine all-round display by Robin Chaudhary (50 not out and four for 10) helped Hari Singh Cricket Academy beat Subhania Club by 127 runs and enter the quarterfinals of the 31st Jawahar Lal Nehru memorial cricket tournament held here.

Robin was named man of the match.

The scores: HSCA 284 for four in 35 overs (Amit Gupta 126, Pankaj Joshi 80 n.o., Robin Chaudhary 50 n.o.) bt Subhania Club 157 in 32.3 overs (Devender Lochab 40 n.o, Robin Chaudhary four for 10).
