Mumbai FC continues winning streak

Pune: Fredrick Okwagbe scored the first hat-trick of the Second Division I-League as Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore crushed State Bank of Travancore 4-0 and posted its first win in the event here on Monday evening.

Pradeep Kumar netted the other goal. With three points from four matches, HAL is now in the fifth spot in Group ‘A’. SBT is yet to open its account in the points table and the goal-scorers’ list and is now out of contention for a berth to the next phase.

Meanwhile, in Group ‘B’ at Kolhapur, Mumbai FC defeated Oil India Limited, Assam 3-2.

Mumbai FC and Kolkata’s Mohammedan Sporting Club have already qualified for the Second Division’s main phase while Chennai’s Indian Bank appears to be the brightest candidate to pick the next spot from Group ‘B’.

Six teams will fight in the Second Division’s main phase which will be held in Guwahati.The top four finishers progress to next season’s I-League.
