Bengal downs Mumbai
VISAKHAPATNAM: Captain Laxmi Ratan Shukla and Debabrata Das shared a crucial 94-run stand for the fifth wicket to steer Bengal to a four-wicket win over holder Mumbai in the semifinals of the Vijaya Hazare Trophy tournament here on Monday.
Bengal made 250 for six in 45.4 overs in reply to Mumbai’s 249 for nine.
Mumbai which had the match under its control till the 27th over wilted as Shukla’s (65, 59b, 4x6, 1x6) and Das (55 not out, 51 b, 3x4, 3x6) knocked off the first 50 of its stand in 51 balls and the 94 runs off 90 balls.
The scores: Mumbai 249 (Ajinkya Rahane 55, Amol Mazumdar 71) 249 lost to Bengal 250 for six (Srivats Goswami 48, L.R. Shukla 65, Debabrata Das (not out) 55). — Special Correspondent
