BEML beats Beagles

BANGALORE: BEML (Mysore) came up with a spirited display in the second session to beat Beagles 60-50 after being tied at 30-all at half-time in the State ‘A’ division basketball championship here.

Ravichandra (19 points) and Ramakanth (15) played well for BEML, while Diwakar (18 points) impressed for Beagles.

The results:

BEML, Mysore 60 (Ravichandra 19, Ramakanth 15) bt Beagles 50 (Diwakar 18, Fernando 13).

HASC 51 (Buba 16, Ismail 11) bt JSC 41 (Kaushal 18, Siddarth 12).

ASC 49 (Atheesh 12, Nixon 12) bt Young Orions 33 (Brice 13).

Arumugan bags title

Arumugan defeated former State champion Peter Vijay Kumar 7-6(2), 7-5 to win the +35 men’s singles title in the First Serve senior tennis championship on Sunday.

Ranganath and Pushparaj won the titles in the +45 and +55 categories respectively. The results:

+35: Singles: Arumugan bt Peter Vijay Kumar 7-6(2), 7-5; Doubles: Peter & Amreshwar bt Arumugan & S. Murugan 6-3, 7-5.

+45: Singles: Ranganath bt R.S. Rawath 6-1, 6-0; Doubles: Ranganath & Rajashekar bt Vinay Shankar & Ramesh Naidu 6-1, 7-5.

+55: Singles: Pushparaj bt Kodandaram 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; Doubles: Bhojaraj & Uthappa bt Pushparaj & Venugopal 6-1, 7-5.
