Eight fasting doctors shifted to OGH

HYDERABAD: The Joint Action Committee of the Andhra Pradesh Government Doctors’ Association on Sunday decided to continue its indefinite hunger-strike demanding CGHS scales, even as eight of the 10 doctors were shifted to the Osmania General Hospital on their third day of fast.

N. Neelakanteswara Rao, chairman, told The Hindu that two doctors -- Praveen and Amar -- joined the relay-fast camp where B. R. Ambedkar and Prasad were continuing the fast.

The doctors shifted to the hospital were Ramesh Reddy, Purshotham Prasad, O.Nageswara Rao, Srinivas, Rajendra Kumar, Vijayalakshmi, Gayatri and S. Satyanarayana.

He warned that the association would intensify the stir if government fails to concede their demand. The committee would decide the future course on April 9, a day after discussions are held at the government level.
