NEW DELHI: Seeking to establish itself as a major player in the trendy women fashion segment with the tagline ‘Dressing up India,’ Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) is all set to woo the women through the Vimal brand, something that has remained a male domain for many decades. Reliance, which in the past has offered women’s wear range including sarees under the Vimal brand, is weighing options to re-introduce it in the market in a major way under the leadership of Nita Ambani, who has been behind the resurgence campaign associated with the Vimal brand including the new look logo. A step in this direction has been Vimal’s association with Maurizio Bonas, the well known and reputed designer and master suit-craftsman from Italy who is based in Florence. He is also the President of the Italian Council of Made in Italy. “The recall and equity of Vimal is very much there. The challenge we have taken up is how to make the brand relevant today to young population and not be seen as something, which they cannot connect,” Vimal CEO Srinivasan Padmanabhan stated here.
