’It will help leaders send instructions to cadre, get feedback’ National database of all party members to be readied NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party is going hi-tech, with the first phase of its plan to make all party headquarters Wi-Fi enabled. It will become, possibly, the world’s most automated party, with connectivity between the central party office and State headquarters and then between the State offices and its district offices throughout the country. A wide area network (WAN) was inaugurated here on Saturday by party president Rajnath Singh. The project has been executed by the convener of the party’s information technology cell, Pradyut Bora. To begin with, there will be 11 Wi-Fi access points. Making a presentation at the party headquarters, Mr. Bora said the new e-connectivity would enable party leaders to correctly and directly send their instructions to party workers and get the feedback as to what was happening at the ground level in remote areas. “A hundred years ago Indians were far behind in technology, now the country was sending out satellites into space. I am convinced that this new information technology tool will help the party enormously,” Mr. Singh said. A national database of all party members is to be set up, with detailed information about them. Party leaders are to be given video-telephones, which would help them organise video conferencing, thus saving time and money. However, the BJP was not willing to reveal how much the entire project was estimated to cost.
