“Expel Yeddyurappa”

VELLORE: Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S. Ramadoss has urged the Bharathiya Janata Party leadership to expel Karnataka BJP leader B.S. Yeddyurappa from the party for indulging in “cheap politics” on the Hogenakkal issue.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, Dr. Ramadoss said that it was the duty of national parties to amicably resolve riparian disputes between the States. Under these circumstances, Mr. Yeddyurappa, who belonged to a national party, had raked up an issue concerning the status of Hogenakkal, claiming that the place in Hogenakkal from where the Tamil Nadu government wanted to draw the Cauvery water for the drinking water supply project benefiting Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts, belonged to Karnataka.
He was raising an issue which had been resolved 40 years ago.
“The BJP agitation on the issue amounted to extremism in the name of democracy,” Dr. Ramadoss said.
