Tamil Protection Movement plans demo
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: The Tamil Protection Movement will organise a protest demonstration in Chennai on April 9 to condemn the attack on Tamils and their properties in Karnataka and to urge the Central Government to intervene for ensuring the safety of Tamils in the State.
Talking to newsmen after a high-level committee meeting here on Friday, movement president Thol. Tirumavalavan described Karnataka’s protest against the Hogenakkal drinking water supply scheme as “politically motivated” and alleged that politicians in the State with a view to sabotage the scheme were indulging in violence. Unfortunately the Centre was remaining a silent spectator.
Mr. Tirumavalavan wanted the Tamil Nadu Assembly to adopt a resolution demanding the Centre to deploy the Army in Hogenakkal till the scheme was implemented.
