TVs distributed at Egmore

CHENNAI: Information Minister Parithi Illamvazhuthi distributed 904 free colour television sets in Egmore and 1,681 television sets at Periamet on Friday. This brings the total of television sets distributed in Egmore constituency to 8,077 and in the Poonga Nagar constituency to over 7,000, according to a press release.

Development works

Mr. Illamvazhuthi said that development works worth Rs.5.88 crore have been completed in Egmore last year. Works worth Rs.8.11 crore would be taken up this year.

Mayor M. Subramanian urged beneficiaries of the free CTV scheme to make good use of the televisions. Action had been taken against those who had attempted to sell them after receiving them free from the government, he noted.
