Naveen stars for RWF SC

BANGALORE: Rail Wheel Factory SC, the A Division champion, thanks to a fine hat-trick from versatile striker Naveen thumped BUFC 3-0 in the Group A league match of the Prasanna Kumar memorial football tournament at the Football Stadium here on Wednesday.

Enjoying a definite advantage with skill and speed, the RWF team ran rough shod over its rivals and opened the account in the second minute with Naveen giving the finishing touches.

Soon after the change of ends, Naveen capitalised on a cross from Sudandhar to beat BUFC custodian Manavalan and in the 68th minute duly completed his hat-trick with a solo effort.

BUFC’s Chetan almost pulled one back for his team with barely a minute to go but his on-the-run long shot just kissed the cross-piece and went over.

RWF’s Umashankar was shown the yellow card by referee Balasubramanian for a crunching tackle.

Vijay wins

C. Vijay Kumar of Team Pacer Yamaha emerged the overall champion in the Rally De Bangalore 08, a special stage rally for two-wheelers. With a list of 45 entries the rally was flagged off on March 30.
