Gargi Parsai

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday assured a Congress delegation from Punjab that whatever steps were essential and necessary for the release of Sarabjit Singh on humanitarian grounds were already being taken. Sarabjit Singh who faces the gallows in Pakistan, was given a reprieve of a month by Islamabad after India took up the matter.

AICC spokesman Manish Tewari said the delegation brought to the notice of the Prime Minister the unanimous resolution adopted by the Punjab Assembly to secure Sarabjit Singh’s release on humanitarian grounds.
