Gold chain snatched from woman in bus

CHENNAI: An unidentified youth snatched a six-sovereign gold chain in a moving bus near the Guindy bus stop from a 64-year-old woman commuter on Sunday.
Police said when Maria Pushpam was standing near the footboard , a youth pulled the gold chain and jumped off the bus when it was approaching the Guindy bus stop.
Within a few seconds, he fled from the spot.
The Guindy (crime) police are on the look out for the accused.
Boy run over
A 10-year-old boy identified as G.Balaji of Meenakshi Amman Pettai, Royapuram, died in a freak mishap near his house on Sunday.
Police said that Balaji, studying in IV Standard in a local school, was playing with his friends.
The boys got into a bullock cart that was passing by .
When the bullock cart man objected to it and chased away the boys , Balaji is learnt to have caught between the wheels of cart and suffered multiple injuries.
Though he was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, he succumbed to injuries. Following a complaint from the victim’s father, police are investigating the case.
