BAPATLA (GUNTUR DT): A massive industrial corridor being set up in the coastal belt between Nizampatnam and Vadrevu ports would transform the coastal area in the district, Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy said on Sunday. He also promised the people of Krishna delta of releasing water for their irrigation needs from Pulichintala Project, which would be completed within a year. Addressing a public meeting on the premises of Bapatla College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Reddy said that a corridor being set up on the 26-km stretch at an estimated cost of Rs.15,000 crore over the next five years would provide jobs to over 5,000 persons. Referring to losses suffered by farmers owing to untimely rain, Dr. Reddy said that the State Government would shortly come out with a compensatory package and the District Collectors had already been asked to enumerate the losses and send the reports. The Government would also take into consideration the losses incurred and announce a package that would suitably address the concerns of the farmers, he said. The Chief Minister visited a photo exhibition put up by the Agriculture and Horticulture departments. Earlier, the Chief Minister inaugurated a digital media system at the Bapatla Engineering College. He also inaugurated two pylons marking the inauguration of works relating to laying of drinking water pipelines and C.C roads. Union Minister Daggubati Purandareswari, J.D. Seelam, MP, Ministers Kanna Lakshminarayana, Kasu Krishna Reddy, M. Hanumantha Rao, M. Venkata Ramana Rao, M.L.As, and M.L.Cs were present.
