Attack on Trinamool leader condemned

KOLKATA: President of the West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee Priyaranjan Dasmunshi condemned the attack on senior Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Roy on Saturday evening.

In a statement here on Sunday, Mr. Dasmunshi, who is also Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, demanded that the State Government take immediate steps for bringing to book those responsible for the attack.

Mr. Roy was hit on his chest with a brick in an attack on his car allegedly by CPI(M) supporters while he was on his way to Bongaon in North 24 Parganas district. He was taken to hospital.

Three persons were arrested in connection but it was not known whether they were CPI(M) supporters, police said.
