Minister gives away ex-gratia to two women

TIRUNELVELI: Minister for Social Welfare Poongothai Aladi Aruna on Saturday gave away savings certificates to the families of two girls, who were washed away in a flash flood in a wild stream near Sankarankovil on March 23.
Savings certificates, each worth Rs. 1 lakh, were handed over to the parents of K. Seethalakshmi and M. Muthu Selvi, both hailing from Maangudi near Sankarankovil. The Minister also handed over cheques worth Rs. 1.09 lakh to 10 farmers from Alangulam taluk for cultivating mango and amla under the National Horticulture Mission programme.
District Revenue Officer G. Srinivasan was present.
