TNEB appeal
Staff Reporter
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has appealed to the public to refrain from flying kites near extra high tension tower lines as the string could entangle with the line and cause power shutdown.
The appeal comes in the wake of an interruption in power supply for about an hour in Poonamallee, Valasaravakkam and Virugambakkam on Wednesday evening after the 110-KV transmission line from Sriperumbudur to Korattur and a circuit from Sriperumbudur to Porur tripped because of the entangling of kite string (maanja). Such incidents could also cause major breakdowns in power supply, according to press release from TNEB.
