Girl dies 3 months after being beaten up by teacher

NEW DELHI: Rinky Kaushik, 15, who was allegedly beaten up by a teacher in her school last year, died at Maharaja Agrasen Hospital here on Wednesday night after lying in a comatose state for almost three months.

A Class X student of Dinkar National Model School at Mayur Vihar in East Delhi, Rinky was allegedly hit in the head and slapped by her teacher Dhirender Kumar last November following which she fell unconscious. She died of septicaemia.

Rinky’s cousin Sunil Verma said: “Rinky gained consciousness almost three hours after her teacher beat her up. She was told not to mention anything about the incident to her parents by the teacher. On returning home, Rinky complained of headache and was taken to a dispensary. When her condition did not improve, she told her mother about the incident.”
