SALEM: The National Biodiversity Authority has initiated steps to create a Biodiversity Information System, a meta database of biodiversity and bio-resources in the country, its Chairman S. Kannaiyan has said. The Union Government has allotted Rs. 10 crore for carrying out a pilot project in this regard. The system will link all the databases and information sources related to bio-diversity and bio-resources including plant, animal, marine and microbial resources in various parts of the country. Research scientists, policy makers and common man will be able to get information at a single point after the creation of the system.
