Rights panel seeks reports

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: The Karnataka State Human Rights Commission has sought a report from the Principal Secretary, Home Department, and the Bangalore City Police Commissioner on the steps taken to deal with trafficking in women and children in Bangalore city.

The commission acted on reports in newspapers about the arrest of those who had brought 20 women to Bangalore to work in the live band and prostitution rackets.

It has also sought a report from the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and the city police on the action being taken to keep the Kempe Gowda Bus Station clean, prevent smoking and protect commuters from anti-social elements.
