Amitabh Bachchan dismisses Raj’s charge

Mumbai: Breaking his silence on the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s attack on him, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has dismissed allegations that he did more for Uttar Pradesh than for Mumbai.

“Random charges are random; they do not deserve the kind of attention you wish me to give,” Mr. Bachchan said in an interview to a local tabloid.

The actor was responding to a query on the impact of the MNS chief’s charge, made more than a month-and-half ago, on him and his family. “This is a free country and every individual enjoys the liberty of free speech,” Mr. Bachchan said.

“The law of the land and its Constitution are supreme. Every Indian should be affected by that.” — PTI
